BRISTOL, TN (June 2, 2019) What a great night of racing under the lights at Bristol Motor Speedway among all classes! …just not so great for the Horak Racing #28. Motor gremlins throughout the weekend finally culminated in an instant smoke show early in the feature race when bunch of really, really important parts decided to make a very rude and hasty exit through the side of the oil pan… pretty sure the KBR setup shop will be displaying some new wall art very soon. Never-the-less we had a fantastic time! There’s nothing in the world more exhilarating than racing at Bristol.
And a big hat’s off to The Gunslinger, Mike Skinner for bringing home the win in the Pro Late Model feature race! With all his success in NASCAR and many other series, it’s simply a huge honor to be on-track at with Mr. Skinner anywhere, anytime. Along with wife Angie, the Skinners do a tremendous amount for the racing community and many charities. We certainly endeavor to emulate their generosity and spirit with our team at Horak Racing.
Stay tuned over the next few days to our social media… we’ll recap our weekend experiences at BMS and share some great photos. Many thanks to everyone for keeping tabs on us, and especially those who traveled so far to cheer us on at the speedway. We’ll get a new bullet set in the hot rod real soon and tell you all about our upcoming races and events.
Special thanks go out to our friends at Faro Blanco Resort & Yacht Club, Key West First Legal Rum Distillery, Keys Lake Villas Apartments, Mission 22, UMCOR and of course Kyle Beattie Racing & Driver Development. We are so proud to represent you both on and off the track. We’ll get you in victory lane soon!
CUDJOE KEY, Fl (May 29, 2019) - A stark reality in the Florida Keys: 20 long months after hurricane Irma made landfall on Cudjoe Key, well over 40 families are still displaced from their severely damaged or destroyed homes. Long after the national media has moved on to the next disaster; long after the mountains of debris have been shuttled to the mainland; and long after many of us have tidied up our own slice of paradise, there are still several struggling and questioning where to turn.
Fortunately, for many who live in the Florida Keys, a handful of humanitarian organizations do exist and recognize disaster relief extends far beyond the initial clean up of the storm. One such organization that Horak Racing is proud to be racing on behalf of this season is the United Methodist Committee on Relief – UMCOR.
UMCOR is the humanitarian relief and development agency of the United Methodist Church, a worldwide denomination. Compelled by Christ, UMCOR responds to natural or human made disasters—those interruptions of such magnitude that overwhelm a community's ability to recover on its own. UMCOR presently provides humanitarian relief and disaster response to people in more than 80 countries, including the United States.
They can’t do it alone. UMCOR prides itself on being the first in and the last to leave but it takes an army of volunteers and generous funding. Racing community, please join Horak Racing in supporting UMCOR in their effort to bring stability, peace, love and Faith to those severely impacted by disaster. 100% of UMCOR donations go toward helping UMCOR teams stay until recovery is complete… please help get UMCOR to the finish line and victory lane!
Thank you very much.
Terry Horak
CUDJOE KEY, FL (May 27, 2019) - Race Fans, on this Memorial Day I hope you will join us in taking time to pay tribute to the men and women who gave their lives fearlessly defending the freedoms we all enjoy. Without their ultimate sacrifice, our world would be oh so drastically different. May God bless them all.
And on this day of remembrance, Horak Racing would also like to invite you to become well acquainted with one of the most amazing organizations supporting our veterans; we are very proud to be racing on behalf of Mission 22 in the 2019/2020 season.
Mission 22 is a non-profit who combats the ever-rising veteran suicide rate. Every day, more than twenty veterans are lost to suicide. Mission 22 wants to bring that number to zero. It does this with three main programs; veteran treatment programs, memorials, and national awareness. Mission 22 provides treatment programs to veterans for Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury and other issues they might be facing. It organizes events and builds memorials to create social impact and awareness for these issues. Mission 22 also has an Ambassador volunteer program for people to get involved as well. Ambassadors educate the public on veteran issues, help get veterans into Mission 22 treatment programs and create resources in their communities. Through these three programs, it enables a push for the betterment of our nation's heroes and stands united in the war against veteran suicide.
At Horak Racing we are hoping through success on the track to be able to raise a great deal of funds and awareness for Mission 22. There are many ways to show your support and we whole heartedly encourage you to get involved. …Oh, and for all you gearheads like us, many of the Mission 22 community are sporting some really hot rides. Later this season we’ll be announcing a few events in the Keys with our race cars and their fantastic customs so keep an eye out for those announcements and come say hello!
Please take some time to check out our friends at Mission 22; we’ll be flying their colors at the upcoming Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway May 31-June 1 and for the balance of the 2019/2020 season.

CUDJOE KEY, Fl (May 20, 2019) - Horak Racing announced today that it will be competing in the pro late model stock car division at the Short Track U.S. Nationals in Bristol, Tennessee, May 31- June 1. In one of the most prestigious short track stock car races of the year, over 150 of the county’s best racers will be ascending upon the high banks of Bristol motor speedway for the chance to compete, and possibly taste the rare air of victory lane at this coveted track. With a seating capacity of over 160,000 and dubbed the last great coliseum, a win at Bristol represents one of the highest accomplishments on any race team’s resume.
Terry Horak is no stranger to victory lane at Bristol Motor Speedway. With the help of long-time driver development coach and race car fabricator Kyle Beattie Racing of Concord, NC, Horak Racing won the 2008 Pro Challenge Summer Spectacular at Bristol Motor Speedway. In his 40th year of competition, Horak reminisced about the day… “it was truly the highlight of my racing career. Not only was it fantastic to get the win on one of the most difficult tracks to conquer, but to do it with a team of my best friends made it all that much more special. Kyle and (then crew chief) Neal Cantor, along with a handful of other 2nd and 3rd generation racers built me a super fast hot rod, and coached me to a dominating run. Those guys started helping me when they we just teenagers; fast forward 20 years and now they are all accomplished motorsports professionals at all levels of the sport. I’m so proud of them; it’s going to be great to have many of them on the pit box at Bristol again this year.”
Terry Horak’s racing mission is a little different than in years past when they were competing across the country in different late model series. In the twilight of his stock car racing career and having witnessed the devastating effects of hurricane Irma which literally made landfall in his backyard on Cudjoe Key in 2017, Horak is dedicating his 2019/2020 season to helping promote Florida Keys area businesses, Florida Keys travel and tourism, and Monroe County, Florida charities. By partnering with very generous Keys entities and organizations, Horak Racing is able to donate 100% of its proceeds from competition to Florida Keys charities near-and-dear to their, and their marketing partners’ hearts.
